Risk Manager
Responsible for setting up "Middle Office" which reviewed and calculated the value at risk for the
products traded, and the overall liquidity requirements for the branch
Project team leader
for the creation of a Global Data Warehouse for the bank’s corporate clients, which allowed management to review client assets and liabilities on a worldwide basis. The datafrom the Warehouse provided:
- a marketing tool, creating additional services to clients
- an overview of client profit and loss, to help determine client profitability and
suitability
- risk measurements, showing cross-branch industry and country concentrations
- resources, where the use of actuals vs. estimates enabled senior management to use
bank resources to optimal advantage
- reporting procedures that reduced/condensed previous methods
Member of Y2K Committee, begun in 1997, initially generating a database list of systems
and budgets to remediate possible problems. Was solely responsible for budget reports to
NYC headquarters and sub-branches in the Americas. All internal systems were reviewed,
modified and deemed Y2K compliant by January 1999.
Member of Asset & Liability Committee which created reports concerning present and
historical data for review. Allowed senior management to observe, through simulation,
how the changing financial environment would impact trading positions and balance sheet.
Created procedures for opening new client accounts, combining data from three departments
(Loan Administration, Credit and Accounts) into one relational database. This streamlined
operations for all subsequent transactions with a client, and was the first step in the creation
of the Global Data Warehouse project.
Created a repository for customer and counter-party trading documentation, which warehoused
Information on trading parameters and safeguarded the bank’s liability on unauthorized trades.
Group Suez, New York, NY (Banque Indosuez Division)
Data Security and Disaster Recovery (1989-1995)
Developed original task standards for individual users of the bank’s global computer system.
Implemented inquiry platforms for transactional and data based information.
Developed and implemented the archive systems which increased productivity, provided
higher quality and faster service while substantially reducing paper archives by 70%.
Additionally, initiated PC-based inventory control system.

Created the bank’s disaster recovery plan, working in tandem with outside consultants on
the project.
Accounting, Audit & Reporting (1986-1989)
Created systems for streamlining reconciliations. Introduced PC network to communicate
with correspondents. As a result, trading volume increased 80% while staff level remained
constant.
Performed successful, nine week special audit for a major client, a global oil company. This
complex, multi-part project corrected/streamlined letters of credit and the client’s loans
against oil shipments.
Significantly reduced and condensed reporting procedures through initiating the downloading
of mainframe data to the PC network.
Treasury Operations (1981-1986)
Formulated a back office infrastructure where staff was cross-trained in two or more areas
